Description of the Service
Control Signal is a daily briefing service for operational technology (OT) and controls engineers. The Service delivers curated information about cybersecurity, automation, safety standards, and field device technology via email and a web dashboard.
Content is sourced from publicly available RSS feeds and is curated and summarised using a combination of automated tools (including artificial intelligence) and human review.
Account registration
To use the Service you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Provide accurate and complete information when registering
- Maintain the security of your account password
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
Disclaimer of warranties and accuracy
3.1 No warranty of accuracy
You acknowledge and agree that:
- Information may contain inaccuracies, errors, omissions, or outdated material
- AI-generated summaries may misrepresent or oversimplify the original source material
- Vulnerability information, CVE details, severity ratings, and remediation guidance may be incomplete or outdated
- Standards updates and compliance guidance is provided for informational purposes only
- We do not independently verify every piece of content before publication
3.2 The Service is “as is”
3.3 Not professional advice
In particular, the Service does not provide cybersecurity advice, engineering or safety decisions for industrial systems, legal or compliance advice, or financial advice. You must always consult qualified professionals and verify information from primary sources before making decisions based on Service content. You must never rely solely on Control Signal content for any operational, security, safety, or compliance decision.
Limitation of liability
4.1 No liability for content reliance
4.2 Cap on liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claims shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the total amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) £100 GBP.
4.3 Excluded damages
In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, business interruption, operational downtime, regulatory fines, or third-party claims against you. This applies regardless of the legal theory and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
4.4 Statutory rights
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law.
Acceptable use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorised purpose
- Share your account credentials with others or allow multiple people to use a single account
- Scrape, copy, or redistribute content automatically without permission
- Use the Service to develop a competing product or reverse engineer source code
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access the Service
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or our systems
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules at our sole discretion.
Intellectual property
6.1 Our content
The Service (including the website, branding, design, code, and original written content) is owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You may read content for personal or internal business use and forward individual digest emails to colleagues for non-commercial purposes. You may NOT republish, redistribute, or resell content, use our branding without permission, or use our content to train AI models or build derivative datasets.
6.2 Third-party content
Content sourced from third parties (RSS feeds, news articles, vendor advisories) remains the property of the original publishers. We provide attribution and links to original sources where appropriate.
Termination
7.1 Termination by you
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. All your personal data will be permanently deleted within 30 days as set out in our Privacy Policy.
7.2 Termination by us
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, without notice, if you violate these Terms, your account is inactive for more than 12 months, we discontinue the Service, or we are required to do so by law.
7.3 Effect of termination
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Sections 3, 4, 6, and 9 survive termination.
Changes to the Service and Terms
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. When we make material changes to these Terms, we will notify you by email or via the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Pricing changes for paid features will be notified at least 30 days in advance to existing paid subscribers.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer (not a business user), you may also have rights under the laws of your country of residence and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
General provisions
- Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
- Severability: If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
- No waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision will not be a waiver of that right or provision.
- Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our written consent.
- Force majeure: We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
